Household Waste and Public Bins – Important Notice
As you may be aware, North Somerset Council is changing the frequency of household black bin collections to once every three weeks. While this is part of a wider effort to increase recycling and reduce landfill, we know it may take some getting used to.
Clevedon Town Council would like to remind residents that public litter bins across the town are not to be used for household waste.
These bins are intended for small items of rubbish while you’re out and about – such as snack wrappers, coffee cups, and dog waste. Unfortunately, we’ve already seen cases where household bin bags have been placed in or beside street bins, and we are concerned this could increase once the new collection schedule begins.
👉 Any excess household waste left in or around public bins will be treated as fly-tipping.
This is a criminal offence and could lead to a fixed penalty notice or prosecution.
We kindly ask all residents to manage their household waste responsibly. If you find you’re struggling with waste between collections, please visit the North Somerset Council website for advice on recycling, managing waste volumes, or accessing the local recycling centre.
Together, we can keep Clevedon clean, safe, and beautiful for everyone.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
