Update on Saltmarsh Proposals and Acoustic Fish Deterrent Technology
We have been informed of a pause in the development of proposed Saltmarsh areas around the Severn Estuary. This follows investigations into an innovative acoustic fish deterrent technology that was not available when initial plans were approved.
The technology, already in use worldwide, uses electronic transducers to emit high-frequency sound, effectively guiding fish away without the need for divers or a mains power supply. Scientific data is now being gathered to support its use at Hinkley Point C.
As a result, all work on new Saltmarsh proposals has been paused, and land access notices have been cancelled. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
